We'd tell you that they just don't make music like they used to - but in the case of Elton John, no one has ever made music quite like the piano man.
His songs have shaped generations, and you'll be hard pressed to find a bar or pub which doesn't become a karaoke bar when 'Bennie and the Jets' comes over the sound system.
So how do you bring some of music's best song writing and recording to a new audience (or original fans who just can't get enough)?
The answer is 'Revamp' and 'Restoration'. Two albums, bringing new voices to legendary songs created by the enduring partnership of Elton John and songwriter Bernie Taupin.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Elton John shares:
"It's always a huge compliment when an artist loves your song enough to take the time and effort to rework it. As songwriters, Bernie [Taupin] and myself are thrilled when singers we admire and respect as much as those on Revamp and Restoration choose to add their own unique twist in the process. It means that our music is still relevant and ultimately that our songs continue to reach new audiences. We're humbled and thank them all for their generosity."
Elton describes 'Revamp' as a mix of several music genres, including pop, rock, gospel, country and blues. Restoration is a true country reimagining of Elton's songs, with Bernie Taupin compiling old and new country artists to take on the classic tunes.
